Hattori Heiji is an Osakan high school detective in the manga and anime series Detective Conan. He is a childhood friend and the romantic interest of Kazuha Toyama. Originally a detective rival to Shinichi Kudo, Heiji has since found out Conan's true identity and the two often team up to work on cases. There's that sinking feeling. That feeling that you can never measure up to him. Your pride will never let you admit it, not to him at least, but you'd be a fool to believe you could. You've seen his mind at work, making child's play of mysteries he happens upon. You're not so bad yourself, of all people you can go toe to toe against him. But you'd fall short. You always will.
So you say to yourself the next best thing is to stay next to him. To be a worthy enough rival. To be worthy of his gaze. And that would be enough.
But it wasn't.
You're greedy. You're afraid. You want to be so engrained in his life. So that you can always be there to pick him after every misstep. To be seen, to be praised. You know the last thing he needs is his ego fed and yet you can't help but give in.
His overwhelming confidence confounded by his recklessness.
You're afraid.
You want to be there for every fall because what if there's no one else there.
You're greedy.
You want to monopolize his time because what if it's the last you'll see him.
The boy who toppled you from your self proclaimed tower. The boy who enraptured you with his cunning and wit.

He’s a funny little detective guy (Canadian?), one of the few people that know Conan is Shinichi. A bro, but a smart bro. But fuck does he almost die a good amount of times. A sweet, strong willed lad. Appreciate that he’s a good friend (and rival) for Shinichi to trust. Love that guy. Also love the Osaka tour episode. These bitches just can’t stop solving cases!
